We are sharing some recent photographs taken on a walk by Fiona Walberton, our Treasurer and one of our Committee. She was following the footpath between Tilford Road and Waverley Lane in the valley of the lower Bourne stream.
Our purpose in doing so is to share the beauty and peace of one of the least spoilt parts of our area and to remind everyone that this scene continues to be under threat from housing development. The first planning application was turned down on appeal after it received many objections from
individual residents and from groups such as ours working with South Farnham Residents Association, but another application has been made for slightly fewer houses.
A large part of our objection was about the threat to biodiversity and we submitted much data. Fiona observed on either side of the footpath a carpet of British bluebells, which is a sure sign of ancient woodland.
